A significant number of people visit Thailand for a trip which typically lasts between 1-6 months. Some of these visitors will base themselves in one place and stay in an apartment or hotel enjoying discounted rates for a long stay. At first glance there doesn’t appear to be any policies catering specifically for such visitors.
Many insurance companies don’t seem to realize the existence of such travellers and the only policy on offer is often labelled as a ‘Backpacker Policy’. Don’t be put off if you don’t fit the description of the typical backpacker because these policies are often the best available for those visiting Thailand on an extended stay.
There is no age limit on the Columbus Direct long stay travel insurance policy which will cover individuals, couples or families for up to 365 days away from your home country.
Available to UK residents only. Flexicover offer a specialist Long Stay policy for people between the ages of 18-75 which provides travel insurance for a period of 3-18 months. If you are aged between 16-45, the Flexicover Gap Year policy is an alternative option.
